Free UV-calculator
The Sundicator is easy to use. Just follow the simple steps outlined below and you know your safe sun protection time in a minute:
click the UV-index value (1-11)
choose your skin type
fill in the sun protection factor of your sunscreen
when it’s cloudy, click the cloud button
when you’re in the mountains, click the mountain button
click the result button to calculate
click the clock button on the result screen to set the alarm
Look for the UV-index at your place on a given day. Remember this index can change everyday, just as for example the maximum temperature does. You can find the UV-index in a local paper or on the internet. Go to the links section to find a site that returns the UV-index from all over the world.

Use your common sense when exposing yourself to the sun and listen to your doctor’s advice when it comes to suncare and safe sun tanning time.To use the UV-calculator, you need to know your skin type. Basically a low number means a higher risk of skin damage. Consult the above table if you don’t know what skin type you have.
If you’re not sure, rather underestimate your skin type. For example, you’re not sure whether you really are a type 3, then choose type 2. And ask your doctor the next time you visit him.

I wish I could download this to my Mac, or my iPhone so I have it when I’m not able to get on the net. (Great to have when I’m out on the water.)

Do you know how to calculate SPF theoretically?
For example, if there is 2% Titanium dioxide in the sunblock lotion, 2% of Titanium dioxide will give at least 2 SPF units

This is great! Many people forget even if its cloudy you can still get a wicked sun burn cause the UV factor is high.
